I read somewhere, that many people living in Bhutan take vacation trips to Thailand sometimes.  Have any of you in this forum ever been to Thailand?

Several years ago, I lived in Thailand for 4 years, and had a chance to try many kinds of Thai meals.

My question is this:  Is Thai food similar to Bhutanese food?

Sam

Here in Texas, USA, we are accustomed to eating spicy food.  Texas is very close to the country of Mexico, and lots of Mexican food is full of hot red or green chilli peppers.  Most Mexican food also contains lots of cheese, and each meal is served with rice and refried beans.  It's really delicious!!

Hi Samquest and the others,

I have been to Thailand(Bangkok) and have eaten their food.

From what I found, their food is sour-sweet which is not to the liking of many Bhutanese. But then, everybody likes their own food, don't they.

Anyway, Bhutanese food is different from Thai food. Most Bhutanese vacationing or traveling to Thailand carry a little stock of our own food, and they prepare it there, mostly renting service apartments with kitchens. And I believe most Bhutanese students studying there cook their own food as well.
